ESANS Visits Casa Cuna La Paz

This year’s Christmas decorations, which adorned the school’s main lobby during this past December, were designed and implemented by the English Department with the support of the students, faculty & staff, and administration. The snowy-Christmas-scene showcased Santa's Workshop, a heap of gifts, and elves playing in the snow - all in the shadow of a two-story tree adorned with teddy bears.

Students and faculty donated time and money to create the display. The teddy bears decorating the Christmas tree are the true heart of the story for their dual purpose:
  1. Adorn the ESANS for the Christmas season
  2. To be donated to children living in the Casa Cuna de la Paz

The Casa Cuna de la Paz (Children's Home of Peace) was founded on April 21st, 1907 by Elisa Margarita and Juvera Berruecos with the spiritual guidance of Father José María Troncoso Herrera. The home provides education and lodging to young children who have been orphaned, abandoned, or who come from households with material and moral needs. The home currently cares for 90 young boys and girls from 3-months to 6-years of age.

Today, student representatives from each group, led by the English Department and supported by the school administration visited the Casa Cuna de la Paz, located in Colonia Condesa. During the visit students shared time with the children living in the Casa Cuna de la Paz. They played, showed generous affection, and gave each child one of the teddy bears which undoubtedly filled our students and the children with joy.
